Runner-Up of U.S. Department of State Greening Diplomacy Initiative Award 2012: U.S. Embassy Canberra Greening Initiative (CGI)
During the past twelve months the Canberra Greening Initiative (CGI) has embarked on an ambitious plan to foment positive change across the organization. Drawing on the collective enthusiasm and talents of the community, and working with host country organizations, CGI made notable progress in the past twelve months and is committed to implementing greening and sustainability initiatives in many facets of our operations in accordance with our 2012 Road Map.
The CGI is comprised of an ever-shifting cross section of U.S. Direct Hire and Locally Employed Staff members from various sections who serve as advocates/champions in their respective offices. In recognition of heavy work commitments, CGI efforts are decentralized to harness available individual/team enthusiasm which is then guided by ‘Coaches’ to channel efforts toward achievement of ‘success stories’.
